Loving Los Muertos Beach

The ocean waves of the most famous beach in Puerto Vallarta come right up to the shoreline of the city at Los Muertos Beach, located just a short stroll from Olas Altas Suites. No matter what a “day at the beach” means to you, you’ll find it popular oceanside playground. 

Several restaurants line the beach, some set back on raised terraces, some right on the beach to dine with your toes in the sand, with both higher end and casual dining options available. Or you can just wait for vendors to come right to you with skewers of fresh-caught grilled shrimp, peeled mangos, or other snacks. 

There are several beach clubs found here, including some of the most popular gay-friendly beach clubs in Puerto Vallarta, some of which have pools and full amenities to enjoy. There is also a variety of watersports to enjoy from Los Muertos Beach including stand up paddle boarding, parasailing, banana boats, or a swim in the clean ocean water. 

The iconic Los Muertos Pier is also located here, where you can board water taxis to ferry you out to the water access beaches south of Puerto Vallarta, like Yelapa and Los Animas, for day adventures or to go snorkeling at Los Arcos Marine Reserve.  

Did you forget to pack your sunglasses or a hat in your beach bag? No problem, there are friendly vendors that have all sorts of goods available, from beach necessities to souvenirs – in fact, you may end up doing all your vacation shopping right from your beach chair! But, if you’re not in the mood, just a friendly, “no, gracias” is all that’s required.
